ABOUT
HAPPY BREAKFAST PRINT SERIES
A psychedelic zine filled with colourful and chaotic images that blur the line between cute and creepy, Happy Breakfast was about freeing the constraints of the ‘less is more’ sensibilities that we work with every day, embracing a style that’s colourfully chaotic, full of life and unlimited in potential. What began as a commission for Japanese magazine Them, has turned into something of an ongoing experiment thanks to London-based publishers Katie Bagley and Ferry Gouw of New World International. While the zine’s OTT aesthetic may come a shock to those au fait, Happy Breakfast comes bursting with bizarre explosions of clay figures and strange faces that leave you feeling nostalgic for the silly imagination of childhood; featuring an array of digital compositions filled to the edges with tangled imagery, packed with anything you can imagine, such as dinosaur toys, clay elephants with hats and green eyeballs. Each design is like an opened junk drawer or a toy chest dumped out on the floor, arranged to somehow create a perfect balance in the surreal chaos.
